CAF Champions League: St. George 2 TP Mazembe 2
Bahir Dar, Ethiopia – St. George of Ethiopia and TP Mazembe of DR Congo drew 2-2 in the first leg match of the 2016 Orange CAF Champions League 1/16 stage.
The host opened the score just 11 minutes into the game thanks to a wonderful shot from 30 meters by Behailu Assefa, and the cup holders Mazembe equalized in the dying minutes of the first half with a goal from Daniel Adjei.
The visitors got their second goal just 1 minute after the start of the second half thanks to an own goal by Aschalew Tamene.
Team captain Adane Girma saved the day for Saint George by scoring the equalizer from a free kick in the 59th minute.
The two teams will play the return leg match in Lumumbashi in two weeks.
