Bahir Dar – Ethiopian Cup winners Fasil Kenema of Ethiopia defeated Azam of Tanzania 1-0 in the first leg match of the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round played here today.
Fasil usually play its domestic matches at home in Gonder but the match was moved to Bahir Dar stadium as it can holds and accommodate a much larger crowd.
Bezabeh Meleyo scored the lone match just in injury time of the first half.
Fasil Kenema, which was making its debut in the continental competition just like its Ethiopian counterpart Mekelle 70 Enderta (CAf Champions League), will travel to Tanzania for the return leg match in two weeks.
