Astana Pro’s Merhawi Kudus (Eritrea) won his second consecutive race when he came up trumps in the 213.1km third stage of the Tour du Rwanda in Rubavu today.

The Eritrean soloed to victory in 5:21:15, beating Direct Energie’s Rein Taaramae by 15 seconds. Israel Cycling Academy’s Matteo Badilatti completed the podium another 28 seconds back.

Kudus extended his overall lead with a time of 11:05:04, 17 seconds clear of Taaramae, who jumped 18 places up to second.
