Nation Starts Hotel Star Rating in Addis Ababa

AA Hotel Star RatingAddis Ababa, Ethiopia – Hotel star rating kicked off here today with the evaluation of Sheraton Addis, Hilton and Radisson Blue hotels.

Ratings of the 400 high standard hotels operating in the country are being made in collaboration with World Tourism Organization (WTO).

Out of the 400 hotels to be ranked in a month, half are in Addis Ababa, it was learned.

Culture and Tourism State Minister, Tadelech Dalcho said each hotel will be evaluated based on 12 criteria such as building design, cleanness, and educational level of employees.

Upon completion of the ratings in Addis Ababa, hotels in Oromia, Amhara, Tigray and Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples regional states will be ranked, it was indicated.

Addis Ababa Hotel Owners Association (AHA) Deputy President, Zenawi Mesfin said on his part the rating of hotels will guarantee for tourists and other customers standard and quality service.

The hotels will get star ratings based on the criteria prepared by World Tourism Organization and approved by Ethiopian Standards Agency.
