Ethiopia earns 264 million Birr revenue from export of horticultural products

Ethiopian Flower exportAddis Ababa (ENA) – The Ethiopian Horticulture Development Agency said it has secured 264 million Birr in revenue from export of horticultural products during the previous year.

While discussing with North American flower distributers delegation, Agency Director-General Alem Woldegerima said of the total revenue obtained during the reported period flower takes the lion’s share by earning 212 million Birr. He said the balance was secured from export of fruits, vegetables and herbs.

The nation has exported the items to countries in Europe, Middle East, Asia and Americas, the Director said.

The Director said that activities are being carried out to expand destination for flower export and foreign investors engaged in the sector.

Some 90.7 percent of the total flower export of the country goes to Europe while, the balance is exported to Middle East, Asia and America, according to him.
