COVID-19 Update: Ethiopia Reports 268 New Cases, 8 Deaths

Addis AbabaEthiopia has reported 268 new coronavirus cases and 8 deaths over the last twenty-four hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 3,166 and the number of deaths to 55. The total number of tests conducted so far stands at 176, 504.

The new cases were identified following laboratory tests conducted on 5,644 people in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

Of the new confirmed cases, 177 are male and 91 are female with the youngest being 1 year old and the oldest 90-year-old, it added.

Except for one foreign national, the remaining individuals are all Ethiopians, according to the Ministry of Health.

Of the total confirmed cases, 232 were from Addis Ababa, 12 from Oromia, 8 from Amhara, 6 from Tigray, 5 from Harari, 2 from SNNP, 2 from Afrar and 1 from Benshangul Gumuz Reginal States.

Meanwhile, 44 people have recovered from the virus, raising the total number of recoveries to 495.
