Ethiopian Premier League Season Canceled Due To COVID-19 Pandemic

Addis Ababa -The executive committee of the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) has announced here today that the 2019/20 Ethiopian Premier League season has been canceled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The decision was made at the conclusion of a teleconference held between the EFF, the Ethiopian Premier League Organizing committee, and the Federal Government.

The committee said that it reached today’s decision due to the uncertainty of when the pandemic will be over.

The cancelation of the league will also mean that there will be no national champion nor relegation.  Ethiopia will also not have any representatives in African club competitions such as CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup next year.

The federation concluded its meeting by asking players to honor their contractual obligations with their respective clubs, which will expire on July 7, 2020.
