Addis Ababa – Kedus Giorgis SC which is celebrating its 80th anniversary defeated Al Merrikh of Sudan 1-0 in a soccer friendly match played here today.
Natnael Zeleke scored the lone goal of the match 20 minutes into the first half.
Al Merrikh’s captain Amer Kamal was sent off late in the game for hitting Dawa Hotessa.
Considering that Kedus Giorgis, one of the oldest and most successful teams in Ethiopia, was celebrating its 80th club anniversary and this was an international friendly, one would have expected that the stadium would be full, but it wasn’t.
The same scenario was seen during the Ethiopia vs Niger friendly match yesterday, where there were many empty seats in the stadium
