NEW YORK, N.Y. August 10, 2015 – The Africa Travel Association (ATA) announced today that registration is now open for the 40th Annual World Congress, to be held from November 9-14, 2015 in Nairobi, Kenya. ATA’s signature event on the African continent will be hosted by the Kenya Ministry of East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism under the auspices of Cabinet Secretary Hon. Phyllis Kandie, with the theme Africa Rising: Enhancing New Tourism Opportunities.

As an early founding member of the association, the Kenyan government shares a special connection with ATA. The first ATA Congress in Africa was hosted in Kenya in 1976 and the Kenyan Government has fostered a tradition of hosting the ATA Congress every ten years. “Our partnership with ATA is very important as the U.S. remains a significant source market for Kenya. The Kenya tourism industry is looking forward to welcoming ATA delegates for a successful conference in November to highlight all the country has to offer,” said Kandie.

Delegates can register for the five-day travel industry event on-line at ATA’s website, www.africatravelassociation.org/worldcongress. Special early bird rates for ATA members are available until August 31, 2015 at $400/person. After this date, ATA members can register for $500/person, while the non-member registration fee is $600/person. Local delegate rates are also available. Special ATA delegate rates have been negotiated at a range of hotels in Nairobi.

ATA Congresses in Africa bring together hundreds of delegates from around the world to interface with global travel and tourism leaders and experts. Congress delegates include representatives from tourism ministries and boards, multilateral and regional organizations, tour operators and topline travel agents, ground operators, airlines, hoteliers, media, the African Diaspora, as well as students and young professionals.

ATA’s 40th Annual World Congress will commence on Monday, November 9th and conclude on Saturday, November 14th. The Congress program includes a Tourism Ministers’ Roundtable, plenary sessions on timely global tourism topics; learning and professional development sessions; a range of networking events including an Opening Gala Dinner, Kenya Culture Night, and ATA Awards Ceremony; and offsite visits to Nairobi National Park, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, prehistoric site Olorgesailie, Karen Blixen Museum, and Giraffe Center. During the Congress Host Country Day, delegates will also have the opportunity to take part in travel excursions to the Lake Nakuru National Park and Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Pre- and post-Congress tours are also available from ATA Supplier members to further explore Kenya. Visit www.africatravelassociation.org/worldcongress and click on Tours.
