scored the only goal of the game to seal Chelsea’s status as champions with three games of the season remaining.

The title is the Blues’ first in five years and their third under Mourinho, who won it in 2005 and 2006 during his first spell at the club.

Chelsea opened the scoring just before half-time, after Hazard went down in the box under a challenge from James McArthur.

The Belgium international stepped up and saw his spot kick saved by Julian Speroni, but he reacted to the rebound to head the ball beyond the goalkeeper.

Despite Alan Pardew’s Palace giving a good account of themselves in the second half, Chelsea saw out the match with relative comfort, before the final whistle was met with jubilant celebrations.
