Addis Ababa University to host debate between political parties

AAU’s School of Journalism and Communication in collaboration with the President’s Office have organized a debate for February 28, 2015 where legally recognized political parties will freely present their political ideologies and alternative policies.

Abdisa Zeray (Ph.D.) from the School of Journalism and Communication stated that political world views propagated by political parties in Ethiopia fall under three categories: developmental democracy, social democracy and liberal democracy.

Each speaker at the debate will have 30 minutes to make their point. He added the mannerly conduct of the debate will enhance the democratization process in the country.

The School is currently sending out invitation letters to political parties to partake in the debate. The debate is expected to draw 100-150 audience and several journalists are expected to cover the event.
