Abel Tesfaye’s “Earned it” is “Fifty Shades of Grey” Soundtrack

Abel TesfayeAbel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd’s new song “Earned it” has been picked to feature in the upcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie. The Ethiopian – Canadian singer made the announcement through his twitter account on Monday. In the tweet he expressed his gratitude to the film’s directors and his fans who liked the song posted on Youtube.

The track features a slow waltz beat with The Weeknd’s signature vocals. The movie soundtrack will also include remixes of Beyoncé hits “Haunted” and “Crazy in Love,” and a song from Rita Ora, who portrays Mia Grey in the film.

Abel Tesfaye who is of Ethiopian decent rose to fame in 2011, posting popular on-line mix tapes and collaborations with rapper Drake. His music which is a mixture of R&B ,Punk and alternative rock is an emerging genre of music known as PBR&B. He has since worked with American international artists Schoolboy and Rick Ross.

Abel grew up in Canada under the care of his mother and grandmother.He dropped out of school at age 17 and ran away one weekend to start his music career a move that coined his name ‘The Weeknd’.

Having being highly acclaimed by several music publication such as Pitchfork, MTV, BET, Rolling stone and source code as a ‘song bird’ of his generation.
