Manchester United Survive late Roma Surge to gain first ICC Victory

Manchester United knocked off AS Roma 3-2 in Denver, Colorado in its first ICC contest of 2014.

United got on the scoresheet in the 36th minute thanks to a stellar strike from Wayne Rooney, who collected the ball outside the 18-yard-box before curling it into the top corner.

Juan Mata would double the Red Devil’s lead just three minutes later by settling and delicately placing a Wayne Rooney through ball over the head of the Roma keeper.

Before the halftime whistle blew, United added a third goal, this time a penalty kick from Wayne Rooney, who would finish the match with two goals and one assist.

Roma would stage a formidable comeback in the second half, courtesy of a phenomenal 60-yard bomb off the foot of midfielder Miralem Pjanic, who caught the United keeper off his line. Minutes before the final whistle Francesco Totti would convert from the penalty spot to cut the lead to one, however the match had run its course.

United now move atop Group A with three points.
