2014 Nike Hoop Summit: Jahlil Okafor to lead Team USA

Portland, Oregon Jahlil Okafor (Nigerian-American), who is considered the number one high school player in his US, will lead Team USA against the World Select Team in the 17th edition of Nike Hoop Summit to be held at the Moda Center here tomorrow.

The 6-foot-10, 260-pound Okafor, who is 18-year-old, won the title at the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship and the 2013 FIBA U19 World championship. Team USA leads the series 11-5, despite losing the last two years. 

Okafor will play college basketball at Duke University next year.

Another African, Emmanuel Mudiay of the Democratic Republic of Congo, will play for the World Select Team.

The annual Hoop Summit is always a spectacle of future NBA superstars with 151 former USA and World team members having been drafted by NBA teams, including 11 players in the 2013 NBA Draft.
