Ethiopian CEO Elected to IATA Board of Governors

Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing airline in Africa, is pleased that its CEO, Tewolde Gebremariam, has been elected to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Board of Governors.

Ethiopian CEO was elected to this prestigious group of airline CEOs during the 69th IATA Annual General Meeting held in Cape Town, South Africa from Jun 2-4, 2013.

The Board of Governors is the government of IATA, which represents around 240 airlines. Its members exercise an oversight and executive role on behalf of the membership as a whole and in representing the interests of the Association.

The election of Ethiopian CEO to the IATA Board of Governors is a continuation of the recognition Ethiopian and its more than 7,000 staff, who work hard to make Africa’s premier carrier shine high in the sky.

Ethiopian was also chosen to host the IATA Africa Aviation Day at its hub Addis Ababa on 16 April, 2013. This was the first time for such an event to held in Ethiopia with the Director General and CEO of IATA, Tony Tyler attending along with close to 100 representatives of airlines from across the continent and aviation stakeholders.
