Ethiopian Airlines to host African Aviation’s 22nd Annual MRO Conference & Exhibition

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (ENA) – Ethiopian Airlines said it will host the African Aviation 22nd Annual Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) international conference and exhibition from 25 to 27 February 2013. According to a statement Ethiopian sent to ENA on Tuesday, over 250 participants from all over the world, including airlines, aircraft manufacturers, component suppliers and other industry stakeholders are expected to attend the conference.

“Ethiopian is delighted to host this major conference, which will provide a unique platform for all the key parties to showcase their services and explore opportunities for MRO partnerships and joint ventures,” the statement quoted Ethiopian senior vice president MRO services, Zemene Nega has having said.

Ethiopian has been a pioneer MRO provider in Africa for many years. In line with the vision 2025, the Ethiopian MRO service is being reorganized as a full-fledged semi-autonomous strategic business unit with adequate capacity to serve the MRO demand in the region and with the aim of becoming the leading MRO service provider in Africa, Zemene added. Accordingly, massive work has been undertaken to build the necessary MRO infrastructure and train adequate, qualified and certified technicians and engineers.

Ethiopian MRO is using Maintenix, a leading MRO IT platform, for all its aircraft maintenance and engineering activities. As a result Ethiopian MRO will use the conference to promote its MRO services and show case its renewed preparations for the business, Zemene said.

Ethiopian MRO, which is certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the European Aviation Safety Agency, provides world-class services on Boeing fleet for many airlines in Africa and elsewhere, according to the statement.
