Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Walia Antelopes of Ethiopia defeated Tanzania 2-1 here today in the final preparation match of the upcoming 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which will kick off on Saturday, January 19 in South Africa.

The goalscorers were Fuad Ibrahim (13′) and Shimeles Bekele (69′) for Ethiopia and Mrisho Ngassa (51′) for Tanzania.

US based Ibrahim, who just 2 minutes into the game received a yellow card, opened the score for Ethiopia and that’s how the first half ended.

Tanzania leveled the score six minutes after the restart of the second half, and Ethiopia responded with a second goal thanks to a header by Shimeles Bekele.

Ace strikers Adane Girma and Saladin Said, who came in the second half, were unlucky to add their names to the scoring sheet. Saladin dribbled past the goalkeeper only to see his shot saved on the goal line by a Tanzanian defender.

So, in 3 friendly international matches, the Walias won 2 and drew 1.

Belgium-based Ethiopian sports journalist Ermias Amare posted on his Facebook page that Etv will show the match at 10pm local Addis Ababa time.
