Admassu Tadesse wins Investor Africa’s Award

Admassu Tadesse, President and Chief Executive of the Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank (PTA Bank) has won the 2012, ‘Up and Coming Future Leader of the Year Award’ from Investor Africa Magazine.

Admassu was awarded in the category of investment professional under 45 years of age demonstrating potential for leadership.

The Award ceremony was held at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Tokyo Japan in an event which took place during the course of the World Bank/International Monetary Fund annual meeting for 2012.

The regional award is an honor for him and his country (Ethiopia) said Admass speaking after the award ceremony. Admassu was one of 15 African business leaders from various countries to be awarded by African Investor in different categories.

Admassu had served in many differ African countries in the last twenty years before moving to the PTA Bank for a five year term leaving the Development Bank of South Africa where he had served as a Vice President for the previous ten years.

The PTA Bank has performed well in the last five years with return of equity exceeding more than 10 percent said Admassu.

The bank is currently owned by nineteen shareholders made up from seventeen members from the Southern and Eastern African region, one institutional member and one non regional member.

It is to be remembered that Ethiopian Airlines secured 15 million US dollars from the PTA bank for the purchased of the Dreamliner aircraft as well as a loan approved for Access capital Services SC noted Admassu.
