Ambassador Greg Dorey congratulates Ethiopian Paralympics athlete on winning silver medal

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia –Ethiopia won three gold, one silver and three bronze medals at the London 2012 Olympics and so far one silver medal at the London Paralympics Games.

British Ambassador Greg Dorey has congratulated Ethiopian Paralympics athlete Wondiye Fikre on winning silver medals at the Paralympics Games in London. Athlete Fikre came second in the men’s 1500m-T46 athletics on 4 September 2012 following the Kenyan Athlete Tarbei Abraham, who won the gold.

Ambassador Dorey said “Fikre’s achievement, which builds on Ethiopia’s success in London in the Olympic games, illustrates the talent of Ethiopia’s emerging generation of athletes. His outstanding success in the biggest and best Paralympics ever shows the depth of sporting success in Ethiopia. Ethiopia should be highly proud of Wondiye’s great achievement.”

Ethiopia won three gold, one silver and three bronze medals at the London 2012 Olympics and so far one silver medal at the London Paralympics Games.

Ambassador Dorey said “London 2012 is showcasing the talents of the world’s best Paralympic athletes. More than 4,000 athletes from 150 nations are competing, the biggest and best Paralympic games ever. The successes of the Paralympic athletes are helping challenge negative perceptions about disability across the world.”
