Addis Ababa, Ethiopia -Ã‚Â Following the announcement of the death of former Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hailemariam Desalegn will serve as the Acting-Prime Minister of Ethiopia, head of the Office for Government Affairs, Bereket Simon, said in response to queries from The Reporter.
During a press conference held at the Addis Ababa Hilton today, Bereket said that until the parliament convenes Hailemariam will assume all duties.
He also added that there will be no fundamental changes in policies and/or strategies and there will be no election until parliament convenes and the Parliament will endorse HailemariamÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s appoint and he will serve until 2015.
The funeral ceremony of the PM will be executed by a seven-member-committee and starting today Brerket said that the nation a will be in mourningÃ‚Â until the funeral date.
Bereket declined to give detail as regarding the type of illness and the hospital Meles was treated he said that his wife Azeb Mesfin and his children are currently with him but declined to comment where.
