USAID Administrator to visit Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (ENA) – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah to visit Ethiopia on Thursday, the US Embassy in Addis Ababa said.

Dr. Rajiv Shah will be accompanied by Gayle Smith, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director at the National Security Council, the Embassy said in a press release sent to ENA on Wednesday.

The administrator’s visit will focus on strengthening African resilience to drought and famine.

According to the embassy, during his stay Dr. Shah will meet with Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and the Ministers of Agriculture and Health.

He will also meet African Union Officials, representatives of the private sector, and local community leaders.

Dr. Shah will also visit U.S. government supported projects in rural areas involving pastoral communities and food security.
