Ethiopia Premier League: EEPCO 1 Sidama Coffee 0, CBE 1 Adama 1

Addis Ababa – EEPCO kicked off their 2011/12 Ethiopia Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over last year’s Cinderella team, Sidama Coffee.

The day’s other double header featuring Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) and Adama City, ended in a 1-1 draw.

The league officially kicked off here yesterday when defending champions Ethiopian Coffee were held to a 2-2 draw by Harar Brewery.

The visitors led 1-0 at half-time thanks to a goal by Amha Belete, and it wasn’t until 15 minutes before regulation time that the defending champions equalized through Dawit Estifanos. However, Coffee’s euphoria didn’t last long as Amha Belete hits his second goal two minutes later.

The Harari team decided to play a more defensive style to maintain their lead, but Medhane Tadesse scored the equalizer in injury time.
