CECAFA Kagame Cup Semi-Final: Yanga eliminates St. George 5-4 in penalty shootout

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – St. George FC failed to reach the final of the CECAFA Kagame Clubs Cup after losing 5-4 to Young Africans “Yanga” of Tanzania on penalty kicks here today.

Yanga will face their Tanzanian counterpart Simba in the final, while St. George will take on El Mereikh of Sudan for 3rd place finish.

Simba defeated El Mereikh of Sudan also on penalty kicks in the semi-final match played here yesterday.

Missed Penalties

The two teams finished scoreless in regulation and the 30 minutes in extra time failed to produce any goals.

Yanga missed their first penalty kick but St. George failed to capitalize on the golden opportunity after top striker Salhadin Said and Anthony Bongole missed their kicks from the spot.

St. George lost 2-1 to APR of Rwanda in last year’s final, but they got their revenge when they beat them 3-1 in their Group C match.
