Ethiopian Women Football Team advances to 2nd Round

Addis Ababa – The Ethiopian national women football team defeated its DR Congo counterpart 3-0 here today to advance to the second round of the 2012 London Olympic preliminary on a 3-0 aggregate score, reported the Amharic sports website EthioFootball.

Hiruth Gabisso opened the score 11 minutes into the game and Rehima Zerga added a second fifteen minutes later for Team Ethiopia to lead 2-0 at half-time. Shetaye Asmamew scored Ethiopia’s 3rd goal in the second half.

The Ethiopian women team will meet next Ghana in the second round. “The Black Queens” as the Ghana team is known destroyed Guinea 7-1 on aggregate score after trashing them 5-1 in the second leg match played in Accra yesterday. Ghana won 2-0 two weeks ago in Conakry.
