Adigrat –The bus carrying the Adama City football squad, which earlier in the day defeated Trans Ethiopia 2-0, was on its way to Mekelle from Adigrat, when it overturned and crashed in a ravine, killing two members, according to Libro website (http://www.librogk.com).

The two were later identified as defender Dereje Hailu and the team leader Mohammed. Several players were also feared injured.

According to Libro, the team wanted to get to Mekelle, instead of spending the night in Adigrat, as it wanted to catch the early flight to Addis Ababa.

The accident happened 30km from Adigrat at an area known as “Adega Hamus”, when a herd of cattle suddenly ran across the road, forcing the Adama City bus driver to swerve into oncoming traffic, and in his attempt to avoid the head on coalition, he went off the road and the car fell in a ravine.

EthioSports would like to express its heartfelt sorrow for the families and for Adama City Football Club.  We will update you further as we get more detail information.
