Ethiopian Premier League: Hawassa City still searching for first point

Yirgalem – Hawassa City has won the Ethiopian Premier League twice (2004 & 2007) and finished in the top 5 on a number of occasions.  It is the only non Addis Ababa team to have won the league title. However, the team’s performance this year has left their fans baffled.

After two matches into the new EPL season, Hawassa remains the only team in the league without a point and is currently struggling at the bottom of the league table.

The team hopes the bad omen will end this Saturday when Hawassa plays its first home match of season after consecutive away losses at the hands of Dedebit FC (2-4) and Dire Dawa City (0-1) in Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa respectively.

The team hopes to reverse the trend and win its match against 10th ranked Mugher Cement, which lost 3-0 to Defence Force last week after winning their season opener 1-0 against EEPCO in Assela.
