Fikru Teffera back with SuperSport, joins Ethiopian National Team

Ethiopian striker Fikru Lemessa Tefera says he is thrilled to be back with SuperSport United after putting pen to paper on a one year deal with an option of another year with the reigning PSL champions.

Tefera has been training with SuperSport for the past two weeks after terminating his contract with Czech Republic club FK Mlada Boleslav a year into the two year contract that he had signed due to financial troubles at the club.

“It feels good to be back with a club that I have enjoyed success with here in South Africa. I love playing in the PSL and my intention is to give good service to SuperSport again so that I can get another move back to Europe at the end of the season.

“I am excited about being back in South Africa and I want to deliver for the club. All that I am waiting for now is the issuing of my work permit so that I get back to doing the job that I am here for,” Tefera tells KickOff.com.

SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt has always favoured Tefera’s workmanlike approach upfront where he combines speed and physique.

The 24-year-old was earlier on linked with a move to Mpumalanga Black Aces prior to then returning to SuperSport and his arrival widens the attacking options for Hunt who already has Angolan Jose Parreira, Anthony Laffor, Kermit Erasmus, Thabo Mongalo and Glen Salmon.

Tefera is this weekend flying out for international duty with Ethiopia who play Guinea on Sunday in an AFCON qualifier.
