Addis Ababa – Ethiopian Coffee FC clinched its first Ethiopian Premier League title in 13 years after defeating Mugher Cement 2-0 here today.
Menyahel Teshome (5′) and Medhane Tadesse (46′) scored the goals.
Ethiopian Coffee FC, which was founded 28 years ago, clinched the title with 61 points, followed by St. George (60 points) and Dedebit FC (58 points).
Although Coffee dominated and could have scored more goals in the first half, the two teams went into the dressing room with Mugher trailing 1-0.
Coffee created many chances but the players were caught offside on many occasions as they were too eager to score.
Mugher Cement did not pose any threat to Ethiopian Coffee and it was Medhane Tadesse who sealed his team’s victory when he scored the second goal just 30 seconds into the start of the second half.
Dedebit vs Defence
Earlier in the day, Dedebit FC beat Defence Force 5-2 with Getaneh Kebede scoring a couple, and thus bringing his season’s tally to 20 goals, the same as Adane Girma of St. George.

Ethiopian coffee deserve to win but they have to keep the players and the couch together for further and consistent performance over the coming seasons. the victory should not be inconsistent and windfall like performance. Coffee has really amazing supporters and can go on to win consistently if maintain the historic couch and the players together and improve some areas especially the keeper and strikers.
they participate in African champions league next season too and it requires to hold on this sprite together.
if there is fair referring, we know who win the league and I thanks the federation this season for its fair game management for the first time. for the Ethiopian football too, fair play increases competition and so that the national team can has more chance to choose the best 11 from many bests.

This year all in all the tournament was so good that really I enjoyed the league and drawn my attention after so long years. Next year I may even be drawn to attend at Stadium after 18 years of my absence from there.
