CAF Confederation Cup: Dedebit FC (Ethiopia) 4 Young Africans (Tanzania) 4

Dar es salaam, Tanzania – Dedebit FC of Ethiopia, playing in its first international competition, drew 4-4 with Young Africans of Tanzania in the first leg match of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round here today, reported Libro, the Amharic sports website.

Dedebit FC led 3-2 at half-time.

Libro said that it was Young Africans who scored first. Dedebit responded with 3 goals of its own thanks to Getaneh Kebede, Berhanu Bogale and Dawit Fekadu. Young Africans pulled one back right before half-time.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, Dedebit scored its fourth goal by Tadele Mengesha, who came on as a substitute for Mesfin Wondimu.

Young Africans, with 3 professional players in their rank, scored two more goals to level the score. The fourth goal came in extra time.

Dawit Fekadu was the star of the day. He scored the 3rd goal, assisted in the first two and his shot hit the bar once. Meanwhile, Behailu Assefa “Tussa” received a yellow card.

Libro also reported that Dedebit’s president, Colonel Awol had promised each player a 10, 000 Ethiopian Birr (US$600) bonus in case of a win.
