Addis Ababa – The Ethiopian national soccer team has started its Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a humiliating 4-1 defeat at the hands of Guinea in a Group B match played here.
The Walias as the Ethiopian team is known, opened the score on the 29th minute, but Guinea responded with two quick goals (37th & 45Th) of its own to lead at half time.
In the second half the Ethiopian team wasted too many chances and couldn’t capitalize on the opportunities presented, wrote InterSport, the weekly sport newspaper on its FaceBook page.
Once again, Guinea too advantage of the situation by scoring two late goals (80th & 90th) to win the match 4-1.
Nigeria and Madagascar, the two other teams from Group B will square off later on today.
Ethiopia will play its next match against Madagascar in Antananivo the week of October 8-10, 2010.
