Dibaba, Aman & Gebrhiwet to compete at Sainsbury’s Indoor Grand Prix

Genzebe Dibaba SainsburyGenzebe Dibaba, Mohammed Aman and Hagos Gebrhiwet of Ethiopia will be among some of the global names set to star at the Sainsbury’s Indoor Grand Prix on Saturday.

Fresh from breaking the indoor world records for both the 1500m and 3000m, Dibaba will look to continue her record-breaking ways as she contests the rarely-run two mile event, with the 9:06.26 indoor best set by her fellow Ethiopian Meseret Defar in 2009 surely in her sights and perhaps even Defar’s outdoor best of 8:58.58 too.

Dibaba, who clocked 8:16.60 for 3000m in Stockholm four days ago to record the quickest time for the distance – indoors or out – since 1993, is due to line up alongside the likes of compatriot Hiwot Ayalew as well as newly-crowned British 3000m Charlene Thomas.

World champion Aman headlines the men’s 800m field, while Hagos Gebrhiwet is due to contest the 3000m – both athletes leading the respective world rankings.
