Getaneh KebedeAs predicted by Soccer-Laduma yesterday, Getaneh Kebede has concluded his deal with Wits.

It was reported yesterday by the Siya crew that the 21-year-old Ethiopian impressed in a preseason friendly against Kaizer Chiefs, scoring in The Students’ 2-1 win over the defending PSL champions.

Wits CEO Jose Ferreira has confirmed to the Siya crew that the decision to sign Kebede was taken last weekend.

“Yes, he has joined. It’s confirmed. But he already signed for us last weekend,” said Ferreira.

Kebede joins the likes of Matthew Booth, Musa Bilankulu, Moeneeb Josephs and Benjani Mwaruwari in the list of players recently signed by the club.

Zimbabwean striker, Takesure Chinyama, is also eyeing a move to the club. The former Orlando Pirates striker has been training with Gavin Hunt’s side during this pre-season.

Kebede Impresses At Wits

Ethiopian striker Getaneh Kebede has impressed during his trial at Wits. Kebede is training with the side, as he attempts to impress Gavin Hunt and land a PSL deal.

Although it was initially thought that Kebede was unlikely to make a move to the PSL, it seems that the player may be offered a deal at The Students if he continues with his impressive performances.

A source close to the club confirmed that the 21-year-old showed what he can offer during a friendly game against Kaizer Chiefs earlier today (Wednesday).

“He scored a cracker of a goal. (Nhlanhla) Khuzwayo had no chance in that one. The boy is class. I think with him and Benjani Mwaruwari, there’s going to be a problem for defenders. He has been doing well at training as well,” said the source.

Kebede helped Wits to a 2-1 win over the Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium. He played for Dedebit FC in the Ethiopian Premier League.
