Ethiopian national women’s football to take on DR Congo

Addis Ababa – The Ethiopian national women football team will leave for Kinshasa today to face its counterpart of the DR Congo team on Saturdayas part of the qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

According to the Amharic sports website Libro, head coach Abraham has selected a total of 18 players for the journey, out of which 12 are members of the Addis Ababa-based Central Health College, a private institution.

The remaining six players were selected from Eagles (3) and Dedebit FC (3).

The report indicated that the owner of the college Abinet Girmay is a firm believer and supporter in women’s football. In addition to being the first club in the country to pay sign on fees for women players, the college also offer full scholarships for its players.
