Fasuba will
compete in Addis 2008 After weeks of speculation,
Nigerias African 100m record holder and world indoor 60m
champion Olusoji Fasuba will defend his African 100m title at
the 16th CAA African Athletics Championships in Addis Ababa which
be held from 30 April- 4 May 2008, Addis 2008 website reported.
The 23-year old, who has enjoyed an impressive 2008 indoor season
with a world leading time and gold at the world indoor championships
in Valencia, Spain in March, will fly directly from his training
base in Greece to compete in the short sprints with a possible
view of helping the Nigerian team clinch an early qualification
for the Beijing Olympic 4X100m relay as well.
Since his emergence in 2004,
Fasuba has been a powerhouse over the sprints on the African
continent winning the African title in Mauritius two years ago
and the All-African Games title in Algiers, Algeria last year.
Fasuba is based in Europe for
much of the year and is coached Jean P. Vazel, the French correspondent
for the website of the International Association of Athletics
Federation (IAAF), and is managed by Eric Lilot.
