Sheger Derby ends in 1-1 draw

Addis Ababa – The much anticipated Addiis Ababa (Sheger) derby between defending champion St George and Ethiopia Coffee ended in a 1-1 draw here today in Week 23 of the Ethiopia Premier League competition..

Ethiopia Coffee led 1-0 at half-time thanks to a goal by Eko Favor and the horsemen had to wait until the 66th minute to level the score courtesy of their leading goalscorer Salhadin Said, who was brought down in the penalty box.

Following today’s result, St George and Dedebit are on top of the league with 40 points each followed by Sidama Bunna (39 pts), Ethiopian Coffee (36 pts) and Adama Kenema (36 pts). However, the defending champion have one game in hand against Fasil Kenema.
