Ethiopian Athletes Dominate Millennium Marathon in Ghana

Terefe Debela topped the male field whilst compatriot, Gebeyanesh Ayele was the female’s champ to complete a clean sweep of honours in the 21km race of the event graced by President Mahama.

17 years old Terefe Debela and his female counterpart, Gebeyanesh Ayele easily run fastest to grab a brand new Peugeot 301 car each as winners of men and women’s races respectively in the maiden Millennium Marathon over 21 kilometers in Accra on Saturday which had the Ghana President, John Dramani Mahama in attendance.

George Njorage from Kenya was second in the male division as Ghana’s top finisher, Abeka Williams placed third. They had $3,500 and $1,500 respectively plus other prizes from sponsors, Adidas, Coca Cola and NIB.

Evergreen Millicent Boadi came second in the female category with Martha Ronceria from Colombia taking the third position.
