Oregon Ethiopian Community Organization Graduates Day

Portland, Oregon – The Oregon Ethiopian Community Organization Graduates Day will be held here on Saturday, July 11, 2015.

The event will take place at 5310 NE 42nd Avenue in Portland from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.

The primary purpose of this event is to recognize the academic achievements of Ethiopian students who graduated from Oregon high schools and colleges this year.

“We want to encourage and inspire the younger generation to follow in the footsteps of the current graduates and instill in them the importance of education and hard work” noted the organization.

The keynote speaker at the event will be Dr. Badege Bishaw of Oregon State University. There will also be speeches by representatives of the 2015 graduating classes: Mariam Admasu from Uniiversity of Oegon and Naod Berhanu Aynalem (Jesuit High School), who will be attending the University of Southern California (USC).

Two lucky high school graduates will also be awarded $250.00 each in the scholarship lottery drawing that will be held at the event.

The Oregon Ethiopian Community Organization hopes to expand the program and provide additional scholarships for Ethiopian graduates in the future.

Finally, the organization calls on business owners and philanthropic individuals to become sponsors of future “Graduates Day” events.
