Saint George FC to play Sudan’s Al-Merrikh in soccer friendly
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Saint George FC will face Al Merrikh SC in international friendly match at Addis Ababa Stadium on Monday March 30, 2105.
St. George, which overtook Sidama Coffee to the top of the Ethiopian Premier League this week, will use the friendly to build on their recent resurgence.
Last week St. George sacked their Brazillian coach Naider dos Santos. In their first match after the sacking, St. George came on top of a crucial match with Welayta Dicha beating the southerners 3-1 at the Abebe Bikila Stadium.
Al Merrikh sporting club is a Sudanese football club based in Omdurman Sudan and is one of the oldest football clubs in Africa. It has won the Sudanese premier league title 19 times and winners of Sudan cup 24 times.
Al Merrikh was the winner of the first official cup in Sudan in 1943. The friendly match request has come from the Sudan club for which the Ethiopian Football Federation gave its blessing. The Sudan club al Merrikh will arrive in Addis Ababa on Saturday.
