German-Ethiopian Soccer Player Davie Selke, SV Werder Bremen

Davie SelkeSV Werder Bremen forward Davie Selke is a 20-year-old who “always plays at full throttle” and has been likened to Miroslav Klose. UEFA.com digs a little deeper.

Selke’s father is Ethiopian, but Davie was born in southern Germany and played for a number of local clubs before being signed – and let go – by VfB Stuttgart’s youth department. After a spell with 1. FC Normannia Gmünd, he joined TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as a 14-year-old in 2009, though he moved on to Bremen in the winter of 2012/13. Handed his top-flight debut in late 2013, he was voted the club’s sportsman of the year for 2014.

  1. may be his parents are Ethiopian,however, he is from Germany. i saw him playing with the German national team t-shirt. which indicates, that he will not able to play for Ethiopia, tell me one reason, why i have to fallow him..do not tell me that, because his root is from Ethiopia, noo..really, Ethiopian will go and always get back to his mother land
