KakaNew York City‘s first Major League Soccer match ended in a draw as 62,510 fans saw Kaka snatch a late equaliser for Orlando City at Citrus Bowl.

The former AC Milan playmaker scored with a deflected free-kick in the 91st minute, after Mix Diskerud put the away side ahead with their first ever goal.

Orlando were reduced to 10 men when defender Aurelien Collin saw red.

But New York had to settle for a frustrating point, with striker David Villa unable to score.

Former Barcelona man Villa will be joined in New York by Frank Lampard, now at Manchester City, at the end of the Premier League season.

Lampard, 36, signed for New York after being released by Chelsea last June but then joined City on a short-term deal.

In January, New York City fans said they were outraged by Lampard’s decision to extend his stay with the Premier League champions, who agreed a partnership with baseball giants the New York Yankees to form New York City in 2013.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, 34, will join LA Galaxy when his contract at Anfield expires this summer.
