Nominees for 2014 African Player of the Year and 2014 African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) unveiled.

The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) on Thursday, 6 November 2014 announced the nominees for the 2014 African Player of the Year and the 2014 African Player of the Year (Based in Africa).

Twenty-five (25) players have been nominated for the topmost Player of the Year, and 20 for the Player of the Year (Based in Africa) category.

The winners of the two categories will be decided by votes from the Head Coaches/Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.

The Awards Gala will take place on Thursday, 8 January 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.

Ivorian Yaya Toure was crowned African Player of the Year for the past three years whilst Mohamed Aboutreika of Egypt was named African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) last year.
