Talks between Stevanovic & EFF collapse

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Drama and intrigue continue to dog the appointment of Ethiopia Walia Ibex coach after talks between Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) and Serbian Goran Stevanovic collapsed in Addis Ababa.

This comes just weeks after EFF overturned the appointment of Portuguese coach Mariano Barreto after hue and cry from Walia fans and football stakeholders.

A close source at EFF intimated to supersport.com that Stevanovic requested to be paid $30,000 per month and in his talks also demanded to bring with him two assistants from Belgrade and Greece to be paid $10,000 each per month a request EFF felt it could not meet at all.

“We cannot afford what Stevanovic has asked for and we find it ridiculous because he demands to bring onboard two assistants yet as EFF we feel he will not be able to transfer the knowledge to our Ethiopian coaches whom we intended to appoint as his assistants”

“Further, his request to travel back and forth from Ethiopia to Belgrade to see his family is not sustainable from our side. His demands are way more than what we expected to pay him and we have decided to consult further,” the source who sought anonymity told supersport.com.

EFF has lined up three other coaches who were in short list to see whom they will settle for as the country waits for a new coach to replace sacked Sewnet Bishaw.
