“We are building a bright future for Ethiopia with a successive double digit economic growth,” said the former president considering himself “lucky” to be part of a new chapter in Ethiopia’s history. He concluded his speech by wishing his successor a fruitful tenure.

The election of Amb. Mulatu as the country’s new president was greeted with warm applause from members of the two houses with MP Girma Seifu of Unity for Democracy and Justice (UDJ) welcoming the appointment.
