Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon Set for September 1

Evergreen Aviation to Host Race Expo Featuring Kara Goucher 

and New Playworks Fun Run on August 31  

Oregon Wine Country Half MarathoWillamette Valley, Ore. – The 4th Annual Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon, presented by Subaru, is fast approaching on Sunday, September 1. The scenic 13.1-mile race starts at Stoller Family Estate Winery, and finishes in downtown Carlton at Main and Pine Streets. Produced by Destination Races, the event is the fourth of six in the nationally renowned Wine Country Half Marathon Series. Over 2,200 runners are expected to compete in the Oregon race this year. Registration is still open at destinationraces.com/runoregon.

Kara Goucher, a 2008 and 2012 Olympian representing the United States, will be the guest speaker at the Race Expo on Saturday, August 31 at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The expo is open to the public and features packet pickup, product sampling, demonstrations and seminars, plus discounts to Evergreen attractions including the museums, Waterpark, and IMAX theater. Goucher, who finished 11th in the 2012 Olympic Marathon in London, will appear with husband and runner Adam Goucher to talk about her Olympic experiences, as well as how she balances life as a mother and training. The Gouchers will be available to meet from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm near the Foot Traffic and Playworks Portland booths outside the Aviation Museum. Kara will host a Q & A seminar at 4:00 pm. Kara Goucher will also speak at the Race Dinner held at Red Ridge Farms starting at 6:30 pm. Registration is required for the dinner. Read more
