Getaneh KebedeThe usually taciturn Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt says the signs are there that Ethiopian striker Getaneh Kebede could be a hit in the PSL this season.

Kebede, who scored against Bafana Bafana on June 16 in a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Addis Ababa, is already off the mark in South Africa’s top flight, after scoring against Bloemfontein Celtic in an MTN8 clash over the weekend.

Hunt expects more of the same from the 21-year-old marksman.

“He’s got a hell of a record, hey. If you look at his record, he’s got nine goals in 11 games for Ethiopia – he scored against Bafana,” Hunt points out to KickOff.com.

“He’s lively and played one game for us and scored. So he’s got the credentials.”

Hunt adds: “It is obviously a big change for him; better pitches and some games are played at night here so it’s different conditions, but he’s got huge potential.”
