Serbian coach Sredojovic “Micho” Milutin has been fired as boss of the Rwandan national team following a string of poor results in the 2014 FIFA World Cupâ„¢ qualifying competition, the national federation said on today.

The 43-year Milutin, who took charge of the Amavubi Wasps in November 2011, replacing Ghanaian Sellas Tetteh becomes the second coach to lose his job this month, after neighbours Uganda fired Scotsman Bobby Williamson after seven years at the helm of their national side.

“We terminated the services of Sredojovic Micho on grounds that he was not productive during his tenure,” said Michel Gasingwa, the executive secretary of the Federation of Rwanda Football Associations (FERWAFA) in a statement.

Assistant coach and former international Eric Nshimiyimana has been named to take charge on temporary basis as Rwanda, who have collected only one point after three matches in qualifying Group H, look for a replacement for Milutin.

Micho is a well-traveled trainer with coaching strings in many countries including Ethiopia, where he coached Premier League side St. George FC.
