Ethiopian League Champions St. George faces a tricky visit to Cairo on Saturday to battle Zamalek in the first Leg of the CAF Champions League second round.

Although teams from the East and central African region have always found the going tough in their recent visits to Egypt like Kenya’s Tusker FC and Gor Mahia, the Ethiopia’s who are the only team to make it to the last 16 of the lucrative competition have vowed to play their hearts out in Cairo.

St. George reached the African Champions League round of 16 after ejecting Djoliba A.C. of Mali 3 -1 on goal aggregate, while Zamalek saw off Vita Club of the Democratic Republic of Congo on a 1-0 goal aggregate.

Before leaving for Cairo, St. George’s Head Coach Michael Kruger they are not going to Cairo to play a defensive game, but to get a good result.

“We need a good result which will help us do better in the return leg,” said the German born Coach.

The Ethiopian giants who boost of nine players in the national team will look to their in-form scorers Degu Debebe (Captain), Adane Girma, Yonatan Birhanu and Fitsum Gebre-Mariam.

Zamalek, winners of the title on five previous occasions will hope that the defence with the likes of Mahmoud Fathallah keeps St. George at bay. Burkina Faso-born Abdoulaye Cisse is expected to lead Zamalek’s attack.

Jorvan Vieira, the Zamalek Coach has warned his players saying their opponents should not be taken lightly.
