Emirates Rewards Top Ethiopian Travel Agents

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, hosted an awards dinner for its top travel agents in Ethiopia for the year 2012.

“At Emirates we consider travel agents to be our important partners and allies,” said Abdalla Al Zamani, Emirates Country Manager for Ethiopia, as he addressed more than 70 travel agents, VIPs and other guests who attended the event.

“Since the start of our Ethiopia operations in March 2006, the travel agent community has assisted us tremendously. We value their business and thank them for their continuing support. This event is about recognizing and acknowledging their efforts in this regard,” he continued.

The award saw 15 agents rewarded for their outstanding contribution to the growth of Emirates either as business partners or business supporters.

As a business partners, Abba Travel PLC received a Platinum Award. Best Travels, Network PVT Co and All Tours Opera received Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards respectively. Others awarded certificates include Four Winds Travel, Gashem Travel, Galaxy Express, Mugad Travel, Safeway Travel and Airlink Travel.

In the business support category, Ethio Gulf Trading received a Gold Award, whileeDawe, Al-Sabri Travel, E.A. Tour and Travel, and Batti, all received certificates.

“We are proud of the success of our Ethiopian route and we owe a great deal of this success to the partnership and support we have received from so many of you. Together we have come a long way since the first flight; from delinking our flight from Uganda; to increasing the frequency of our services to daily; he said.

Emirates AirlinesAl Zamani also thanked the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority for its ongoing support and co-operation, adding that Emirates was very optimistic about the future of Ethiopia.

“We welcome Ethiopia’s openness to investors and the opportunities this creates for trade and we look forward to continuing to support overseas investment in the country and its industries through connecting Ethiopia to our global network of more than 130 destinations worldwide,” he said.

He said Emirates was committed to continuously improving the service the airline offers to its customers in Ethiopia, adding that “our customers choose us because of our superior products and services.”

Emirates began operation in Ethiopia on 27th March 2006 with three weekly flights linked to the Ugandan operation. The operation was also delinked from Uganda on March 25th, 2012 as demand increased. Flights have so far increased to daily.
