Danang Golf Club, the Best Course in Vietnam 2012
Danang Golf Club‘s ‘Dunes course’ has recently been named Best Golf Course in Vietnam for 2012 at the prestigious Asia Pacific Golf Summit in Brunei edging out Montgomerie Links and Dalat Palace Golf.
Although only in its third year of operations, Danang Golf Club has already received most of the highest accolades in Vietnam and the Asia Pacific region. Earlier this year it was named Best Course in Vietnam by US Golf Digest and Best in Vietnam in the Rolex World’s Best Courses guidebook. In 2011, Danang GC was named Best New Course in Asia Pacific at the Asia Pacific Golf Summit, held in Pattaya, Thailand.
The awards acknowledge the outstanding design of the Dunes course, a true links-style layout designed by former world number one player, Greg Norman.
“This has been a great year for Danang Golf Club and credit must go to our course superintendent Mr Ali Macfadyen and all the service and operations staff,” the club’s General Manager, Ben Styles, said after receiving the latest award in Brunei. Ben has been in Vietnam for some years now and explained that this is the highlight thus far as a General Manager in Vietnam.
It follows Vietnam being named Golf Destination of the Year in Asia and Australasia at the annual International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) convention, held in Portugal in November.
Danang Golf Club was the host venue for this year’s Mercedes Trophy National Final, The Johnnie Walker Blue Label series National Final and various other high quality tournaments.
“Here at Danang Golf Club, we endeavor to continue to deliver our course in world-class condition and service. If you haven’t already played it, come and try the best,†he said.
The Central Coast now boasts three top courses designed by modern greats of the game: Montgomerie Links (Colin Montgomerie), Laguna Lang Co (Faldo Design) and Danang Golf Club.
