Launch of India Golf Tourism Association

IGTAA major initiative to promote Golf tourism in India has been announced by Golf enthusiasts from the Tourism and Hospitality sector. India Golf Tourism Association has been formed to bring all Golf courses and Golf Tour promoters on one platform to usher in better understanding and coordination among various stakeholders promoting Golf in India.

IGTA membership will be open to :

  1. Travel and Tour Operators
  2. Golf Courses
  3. Hotels
  4. Airlines
  5. State Tourism Boards
  6. International Tourism Organizations

IGTA hopes to bring in the prestigious International Golf Meet Asia 2014 to India. Besides this the association will work towards inviting foreign Golf tour operators to experience Golfing in India , hold an annual Golf Tourism Conference,  work as a dialog facilitator with all stakeholders to better package the Indian Golf product to maximize foreign visitor arrivals.

Mr Rajan Sehgal the President of IGTA  at the launch event at Suryaa Hotel said “Golf is India’s best kept secret. The country has the rare advantage of having an array of Golf courses from the metros to the mountains as well as courses with great historical importance. Once in India , the tourists arriving for experiencing Golf will also be inspired by India’s attractions such as spas, culture, adventure, dining and business offerings”.

IGTA officials expressed their strong desire to work closely with the Ministry of Tourism in Ensuring that Golf becomes a major contributor to tourist arrival figures and revenue in the future with a share of voice in the promotional campaigns.
